To me Business is a Mission

To me business is a Mission

The term full-time ministry is often used to refer to those who have been called into pulpit ministry. But a deeper study of the word ministry reveals an interesting perspective – ministry is more than just preaching and singing. In fact, the reason we go to church every week is to be equipped for the work of ministry

“for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ.” Ephesians 4:12,NKJV.

The Greek word for ministry is Diakoneo. According to the Strong’s Greek dictionary, diakoneo has four meanings:

1.      Wait at a table and offer food or drinks to guests

2.      To relieve ones necessities

3.      Attend to anything that may serves another’s interest

4.      To serve in the office of a deacon or church worker

By the above definitions, it is clear the word ministry means more than what we commonly think of. If you are a business man, you need to stop thinking of it as a business but viewing it as a ministry. By definition, a business is all about meeting the needs of people –  Whatever products or services you are offering, you are in the business of relieving the necessities of other people. You are attending to the needs of others – this is why your business is a ministry.

Every morning when we walk or drive to our premises, remember we are going to do the work of ministry. This approach makes us look at our business a holy assignment – one which we cannot achieve without divine help. And this, more than anything else, underscores the importance of always committing your business to prayer. Praying for your business is by no means a new concept. History is full of examples of great business men and women who attributed their success in business to the fact that they were men and women of prayer. A modern day example is the Chinese Tiantai Group, which is led by a group of devout Christians. Even though the company is global market leader, they never shy away from making it known that pray is what makes them a success. Their faith in God and their open practice of praying made the company such a huge a success that BBC did a story on how prayer is making them succeed in a secular environment.

When we take our business to God in prayer, we are in effect saying you cannot do it on your own and are therefore fully relying on God’s help. Prayer is relinquishing trust and control to God. It is affirming God’s covenant of prosperity over your business.

And you shall remember the Lord your God, for it is He who gives you power to make wealth that He may establish His covenant which He swore to your fathers, as it is this day. Deuteronomy 8:18

People do business for various reasons. For me as a believer, I believed business is an opportunity to serve God’s purpose in our generation and I believed through prayer and believed in God our business will flourish and God will take us to the next level. Prayer is very powerful.

Let me pray for you :

Dear God

I am praying for our friends here, bless them and keep them and God I know that you will give them the power to make wealth and I pray that our friends here that their business will flourish and you will prosper their business into the next level and I pray all this in Jesus name Amen!

God bless you.

Abundant blessings
